We are less than one week away from the biggest community work event our city has ever seen. You must register by Sunday April 25th at Crossroads Church. Walk – up registration will not be available the day of the event.
There is still room to join a project. Here is a list of the current project opportunities.
NEW Projects – Just added:
- ***NEW *** #11 Woodie Fite Center Project #1: Pressure Wash building
- ***NEW*** #28 Inner Harbor – Arts & crafts, games and outdoor activities with children ages 5-10. Must be 15+ years old.
- ***NEW*** #23 Douglas County Parks and Recreation – Several parks are in need of clean-up & planting flowers, etc.
Painting Projects
- #1 Douglas Senior Center Project #1 – Inside painting project: 2 rooms and a ladies room to be painted.
- #1 Douglas Senior Center Project #2- Exterior painting project: 6 benches, 3 small porches with stairs, 1 wooden awning, and some railing needs to be painted.
- #14 Share House Project #1: Interior Painting: There are 2 bedrooms that need painting.
Family Projects
- #14 Share House Project #2: Babysitting: Babysitting for children while house is being painted.
- #13 Shoe box project for Homeless – Children from X-Kids will fill pre-bought plastic containers with personal supplies and food to take to homeless.
- #27 Hospice Care - One on one time with the residents with activities like Bingo, checkers, and planting flowers & veggies. They have a salon with all the supplies needed and would like for some girls to do resident’s nails.
- #11 Woodie Fite Center Project #2: Sheppard’s Garden: Help elderly with gardening.
- #19 Douglasville Nursing Home – Visit one on one and in groups with nursing home residents.
- #18 Douglas County Foster Care Association – Provide Birthday Cake and Party for Foster Children.
- #21 Douglas County Animal Shelter – Volunteers are needed to walk dogs, clean cages and bathe dogs (if weather permits). Must love animals and children must be accompanied by an adult.
People in Need Projects
- #3 Fowler Homes – Vial Project – Interview the residents and obtain a list of medications, primary care physician, and who to contact in an emergency. For this project must be able to print clearly and be able to walk a good distance. All minors have to be accompanied by an adult.
- #12 Helping the Homeless – Wear work clothes and comfortable shoes/boots and be prepared to clean up area (woods) where homeless live & take food and shoe boxes filled by X-Kids. Must be able to rake, use a shovel and haul trash.
- #15 The Pantry – The Pantry will be finishing up a food drive and will need food sorted and stacked. Wear comfortable clothing. Must be able to pickup boxes and stack food.
- #16 Hope Project #1: Pick-up trash and clean-up on Grady Street, & paint sign on Grady Street
- #16 Hope Project #2: Tear out and remove carpet from Hope Project building
- #17 Faith In Action – Two men crews to pick-up donated furniture and appliances from donors and distribute them to those who need them.
Specialty Projects – Construction
- Various Home Repair Projects at homes for elderly – There are 7 homes that are in need of home repair. Roofing, plumbing, electrical work, repairing decks, etc.
Outdoor work Projects
- Various Landscaping Projects at homes for elderly – There are 8 homes that need general yard work – leaves to be cleaned up, bushes trimmed, fallen branches and sticks picked up, and grass cut, etc.
ONE DAY Event Staff
- #22 Volunteer Support/Runners – Stay at the church and assist wherever needed: Gofer, deliver lunch to work sites, volunteer table check-in, hand out T-Shirts, take water and supplies to work sites as needed, fill in at worksites as needed. Including:
- Registration & Support Staff
- Lunch Delivery
- Parking Lot Team
- Setup/Tear down Team
- Shuttle Bus Drivers
