Oneday was a success
On Saturday, May 1st, 266 volunteers took on 33 different projects all over the city of Douglasville, GA to show bring hope to people in need. Volunteers met at 9 in the morning to gather with their teams and begin work on projects ranging from painting homes for senior citizens, cleaning up community centers, filling boxes of love for the homeless, hosting birthday parties for foster children, and working with the children of Inner Harbour.
As work was being completed throughout the city, the true goal for ONEDAY was to make an impact in the lives of those involved in each work project. From the workers to the people recipients of the work, ONEDAY was creating to make a real difference in the lives of those in need in our community. New Playground for NDES

Imagine if recess was not a highlight of a child’s day at school. Imagine if the playground at your school regularly had over 45 children but was only designed for about 20 children. Imagine if teachers had no place to sit and relax for a moment while children played. Imagine if disagreements and arguments regularly broke out because children just did not have enough engagement on the playground. Hard to imagine but that WAS the situation for North Douglas Elementary School.
God, however, imagined something very different! Thanks to some amazing generosity from Playland (a playground company in Carrollton), North Douglas Elementary School has more than doubled the size and play capacity of its playground. Not only did they add a huge new play area, they surprised the school with six new swings! It was an amazing completion to the playground landscaping project began by Crossroads and Team Jesus at the beginning of the school year. Check out the video below to see the first children to enter the new playground.
We are still needing to raise about $1500 to cover additional costs for the North Douglas project. If you would like to give, please contact Kurt Dean at 678-370-0555 or kdean@xroadschurch.net.
Super Saturday at the Pantry
Our next Give Love Away outreach will involve feeding families in our community on September 26. The Pantry (our community food partner) has been allocated enough food from Atlanta Community Food Bank to feed 500 families on this particular weekend. For this event, we are going to need over 150 Crossroads volunteers! Crossroads volunteers will be giving away food, directing traffic, and entertaining children as their families wait to receive their food. Please visit guest services on September 13 or September 20 to volunteer.
